Day One
See some of the great local sights in the town such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Alice Springs Reptile Centre, and Anzac Hill and enjoy a 360degree panoramic view of the town and the surrounding MacDonnell Ranges, then there is Old Hartley Street School, Old Stuart Town Gaol, Adelaide House and Flynn Church which are all within walking distance of the town centre. Or choose from visiting the Alice Springs Desert Park, Araluen Cultural Precinct (Araluen Arts Centre, Central Australian Aviation Museum, Museum of Central Australia, Strehlow Research Centre and Memorial Cemetery), School of the Air and Telegraph Station. Dinner at The Famous Overlanders Steakhouse.

Day Two
Take a tour or 4x4 self drive to the edge of the Simpson Desert. Chambers Pillar is a towering red and yellow sandstone formation located 160 kilometres south of Alice and was used as a navigational landmark by explorers and pioneers. On the way, stop at Ewaninga Rock Carvings Conservation Reserve, where rock carvings and petroglyphs provide a record of the beliefs and history of local Arrernte people. Head to Rainbow Valley and spend sunset photographing the colourful sandstone bluffs and then return to Alice Springs for dinner at Red Ochre Grill.

Day Three
Time for an adventure you must experience! Heading West along the MacDonnell Ranges is Flynn's Grave the resting place of the founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service then Simpsons Gap and Standley Chasm (entry fees apply), before heading along Namatjira Drive to Ellery Creek Big Hole (our town pool), the Ochre Pits, Ormiston Gorge and Glen Helen Gorge & sunset on Mt Sonder.

Day Four
An Early rise again and a hearty breakfast before setting off to Redback Gorge, then Tylers Pass and the spectacluar view of Tnorala (Gosse's Bluff). If your travelling 2x2 its time to head back towards The Alice. If your travelling 4x4 head on down to Tnorala being heading to Hermannsburg. Then take the time to go to Finke Gorge and overnight at Wallace Rockhole.

For the 2x2 drivers after Tylers Pass head towards The Alice and stop along the way at anything you missed the day before or just take in the spectacular scenery. When you get to Larapinta Drive turn left and visit Hermmannsburg. On the way home stop at Wallace Rockhole and enjoy the cultural experience on offer and even stay overnight.

Day Five
Take a leisurely drive 120 kilometres north-east to Gemtree in the Harts Range on the Plenty Highway for a day of gem fossicking. You can join a tag-along tour (driving your own vehicle behind a guide) to find gold, garnets and zircon. Back at the Gemtree Park, on-site gem cutters can polish and set your treasures into jewellery pieces. Drive back into Alice Springs for dinner at the Todd Tavern Pub Caf Restaurant.

Day Six
Time to head East and see more of the spectacular MacDonnell Ranges.Places of interest include Emily and Jessie Gap Nature Parks - two spectacular gaps in the Heavitree Range, Corroboree Rock an Aboriginal sacred site, Trephina Gorge Nature Park (gravel road) where there are spectacular red cliffs and a picnic area. On to N'Dhala Gorge before returning home. Take the opportunity to dine at any of the many wonderful restuarants in The Alice or revisit one.

If travelling 4x4 you can combine Day Five and Day Six by staying overnight at Gemtree or Old Ambalindum Homestead (Farm Stay) before heading across to Arltunga, then N'Dhala Gorge before doing the return leg of the Eastern MacDonnell Ranges.

Day Seven
Take in anything you didnt get to do on day one then head to Todd Mall for all your shopping before heading home to tell your friends what a must visit The Alice is.
