Alice Springs Reptile Centre houses the largest reptile display in the Northern Territory. We have an extensive range of reptiles including the HUGE Perentie Goanna, Frill Neck Lizards, Thorny Devils and many other fascinating lizards, LARGE and small Pythons and some of the world's most venomous snakes such as Inland Taipans, Brown Snakes, Death Adders and Mulga (King Brown) Snakes.
The largest classroom in the World… Alice Springs School of the Air was established in 1951 to provide an educational resource to primary school students living in remote Central Australia. Students study at home with a home tutor and join with a teacher for a regular live class lessons broadcast via satellite from the studio in Alice Springs.
The township of Alice Springs obtained its name from the waterhole at the Telegraph Station. This historical reserve marks the original site of the first European settlement in Alice Springs. Established in 1872 to relay messages between Darwin and Adelaide, it is the best preserved of the 12 stations along the Overland Telegraph Line. 
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is an Australian icon and a world first. With the help of Alf Traeger's pedal radio the Reverend John Flynn's Aerial Medical Service took to the sky on May 5th, 1928.
